What's cooking: Shahid Kapoor spotted with VJ Bani

The two walked in together around midnight and were seen chilling till the wee hours.

When a fan asked the actor for a snapshot, Bani smartly moved aside so as not to be shot along with him.

Shahid relives his father's childhood

The actor has taken inspiration from Pankaj Kapur for his character in Mausam

Shahid Kapur, who plays a character spanning a dozen years from a small-town youth to a pilot in his father Pankaj Kapur's film Mausam, has been inspired by his father's childhood and youth when he was growing up in Ludhiana.

Lad to man

Says a source close to him, "Shahid plays a young 18 year old boy from a rural town in Punjab, who later grows into a 30-year-old man, who becomes a pilot.

Shahid's father Pankaj himself has been born and brought up in the town of Ludhiana. When researching for the film Shahid decided to base his character on his dad."
"He has re-lived his dad's childhood in small towns by visiting Ludhiana, going through Pankaj's old photos and riding a cycle through the narrow streets of a small town in Punjab.
Shahid's first shot in Mausam is that of cycling down the streets of a small rural town," the source elaborated.
Shahid will be seen doing many things in Mausam from going to college and getting ragged to trying to flirt with girls in college.

Doing it right

"Pankaj took him to Ludhiana and other small towns of Punjab, in and around small gullies.
There's even one scene where mud is being thrown on Shahid's face. While the unit people got multani mitti to put on his face Pankaj, who was in theatre before, was very upset and ordered that real mud be brought as he wanted the scene to look realistic. Shahid is enjoying the transition of a young boy to a man."

After Mausam, Shahid begins Kunal Kohli's next a romantic comedy with Priyanka Chopra where both play a young, much-much-in-love 28-year olds.
"Fortunately in film Shahid is playing his age throughout the film and there is no age transition at all," the source said.

Shahid: Please forgive me!

Shahid Kapoor has been trying to get back into PC's good books.... unsuccessfully, so far

Shahid Kapoor is going all out to woo Priyanka Chopra back into his arms, confirm sources. In fact, when she returned on Friday from her Don 2 shoot in Malaysia, he kept bombarding her with 'miss you' and 'let's work it out' SMSes.

Her absence from his birthday party (on February 25) has affected him to such an extent that he's been sending her flowers and texting her constantly.

Says a source close to the couple, "Their constant fights and arguments led to the break up.

She didn't want to be in town during his birthday. That's why she planned her US holiday around the same time. Hence she travelled with friends who didn't have any connection to the industry.

After that she took off for Malaysia to join the Don 2 unit. It was important for her to take a clean break from her guy."

Shahid, however, hasn't taken the split as well. Realising he is at fault, he's even ready to apologise. But PC is in no mood to forgive just yet.

The source confirms, "When she's in love, there's no holding back. With Shahid, she decided to go that extra mile and make it work.

That said, this hasn't been their first break up, but it's definitely the most painful. At the moment, she's not responding to his calls or messages. But common friends are trying to get them back together."

Who knows? Maybe this on-off jodi will have one more go at it!

Bebo omitted from Shahid's guest list

The Kaminey star invited all his ex-lovers, but conveniently forgot Kareena, sending out a signal that things are far from normal between them

Actor Shaid Kapur invited several Bollywood buddies, including the actresses with whom he had alleged romps in the past, at his birthday bash in a suburban lounge bar on February 25. But Bebo's name was missing in the guest list.

Says a source present at the party, "He had invited all the girls he had been linked with in the past such as Amrita Rao, Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra (with whom he had split just before his bash!), but Kareena was omitted!"

Apologies for absence

But none of Shahid's "former girlfriends" turn up at his party pleading preoccupation.

According to the source, Vidya was unwell, so she couldn't make it to the party. If Amrita had prior commitments, Priyanka was busy shooting in the US.

Though Shahid and Bebo have moved on, at least this is what they want us to assume, they are still not cordial to each other.

A source close to Kareena says, "There are some issues that need to be sorted out. Though Shahid and Kareena are amiable to each other in public and wish each other well in life.

Even Kareena wouldn't invite Shahid to her parties so it doesn't matter."

"The actress was in Bhopal spending time with beau Saif Ali Khan during her ex-boyfriend's birthday. So she wouldn't have been able to attend the birthday party even if she had she been invited," the source said.
