RA.One to open in 5,000 screens worldwide

Shah Rukh Khan's RA.One is all set to be the biggest Bollywood release ever opening in approximately 5000 screens worldwide. In India alone, the sci-fi flick will occupy over 3,500 screens, which is easily 30 per cent more than the last big release, Salman Khan's Bodyguard, reports Mid Day. This hasn't left much room for this week's other releases- Hema Malini's Tell Me O Kkhuda and Himesh Reshammiya's Damadamm. The tabloid quotes Ashish Saksena of Big Cinemas as saying: "Shah Rukh's track record for Diwali has been almost 100 percent. There is little chance any exhibitor would let go of the opportunity to play the movie as much as possible. We opened advance bookings for selected screens last week and they are all houseful already." Over 90% screens are reserved for SRK's superhero flick in multiplexes. "Himesh's last few films have done dismal business and Tell Me O Kkhuda doesn't stand a chance competing with RA.One when it comes to star value. So the exhibitors have reserved over 90 per cent screens for RA.One. More money the multiplex makes in the first weekend, the better revenues," trade analyst Amod Mehra told the tabloid. After extensive promotions on TV shows and across 11 cities, SRK has thrown his last success card to ensure grand opening worldwide.

'I'm misunderstood,' says Madonna as she gets booed at W.E.'s London premiere

MADONNA has been booed by the crowd at the London premiere of her directorial debut W.E. for only bothering to talk to a handful of waiting fans. The pop superstar-turned-filmmaker left many people in the crowd, some of whom had been waiting for hours, disappointed after only taking the time to chat to a few devotees before heading into the cinema, The (London) Daily Telegraph reports. W.E., co-written and directed by Madonna, focuses on Wallis Simpson, a twice-divorced American for whom King Edward VIII gave up his throne so they could marry. The film is entwined with the story of a modern-day woman obsessed with the Duchess of Windsor, which Simpson became after marrying Edward in 1937. Madonna told Sky News she could empathise with the movie's main character, Simpson, a controversial figure who was seen by many in the British establishment as an unsuitable spouse for a monarch. "I do know what it's like to be misunderstood on a global scale," she said. "She lived at a time when women didn't have opportunities like we do now. She didn't have the chance to defend herself so I'm taking that opportunity now." Madonna revealed she felt under pressure screening her movie in Britain. She told The Telegraph, "It's slightly nerve-wracking because it's about a British king, it's predominantly filmed in Britain, it's a British production, most of my actors are English and I know the British can be tough critics. But I hope they like it." The film divided critics when it was first screened at the Venice Film Festival last month, despite Madonna admitting that she took directing advice from her ex-husbands Guy Ritchie and Sean Penn.

Jennifer Lopez Gets Emotional on Stage While Singing About Lost Love

Looks like Jennifer Lopez's lyrics struck a little too close to home this past weekend because the singer burst into tears during her Saturday concert in Montville, Connecticut after singing a song about lost love. The song, One Love, paid tribute to three of J. Lo's most high-profiled relationships, which probably explains why she was overcome with such strong emotions. Throughout the song, pairs of dancers appeared on stage, dressed like Lopez with look-alikes of her past loves: Diddy, Ben Affleck, and Marc Anthony. The new single mom then spoke to the crowd, saying, "A little trip down memory lane, huh?" But it appeared to be a trip she wasn't exactly ready to take because she wiped her eyes repeatedly and then walked offstage after the song was finished. So what exactly set off the waterworks? A source close to Lopez explained, "It was the Marc part of the montage which choked her up. She can't help but feel sad over the loss of a marriage that went on for so long. She's emotional about the whole thing still." The source went on to share that, "Part of her dislikes him so much. But another part still loves him in a way, he's the father of her children. It's confusing. She's going through a whole array of emotions right now." The couple publicly announced the end of their 7 year long marriage in July. However, the American Idol judge may have a new, strong shoulder to cry on. The pop diva has been spotted dining and hanging out with the hunky Bradley Cooper over the last few months, which has drawn much speculation regarding their relationship status. If these two are officially an item, then I would consider it a huge upgrade for J.Lo!

Angelina Jolie's Directorial Debut Hits the Web, Trailer

We know she can act, but how good is Angelina Jolie behind the camera?
We're about to find out. The trailer for In the Land of Blood and Honey, a Bosnian War drama that marks the Oscar-winning actress' first stint above the title as writer and director, premiered online today. Jolie doesn't appear in Blood and Honey the film, which is the love story of a Serbian man and a Bosnian-Muslim woman during the mid-'90s conflict. But it's clearly also a passion project for the thesp, given her humanitarian work on behalf of war refugees and victims of atrocities. Alas, given the sensitive nature of the tale—which early reports incorrectly described as being about a rape victim who falls for her attacker, sparking outrage—Bosnian officials initially denied Jolie a permit to shoot in the country. However, they later reversed course after the Mighty Heart star asked local women's groups not to judge the movie before they see it. In the Land of Blood and Honey is set to unspool on Dec. 23, just in time to qualify for the Oscars. What do you think, does Angie have a shot at an Academy Award? The Three Musketeers Is All For Nothing, Nothing Much For All

When director Paul W.S. Anderson and Milla Jovovich try to get Resident Medieval, it's all for nothing, nothing much for all. If you're just looking for some elegant production design in subpar 3-D, it delivers that. But you can probably find a cheaper way of enjoying such things than the price of a current movie ticket. Like maybe a View-Master.
Going into this movie expecting a faithful adaptation of Alexandre Dumas is like watching the Adam West Batman TV show and becoming upset that you didn't get Christopher Nolan. Rest assured, this movie's low grade isn't due to its lack of fealty to source. In fact, when Jovovich acrobats herself through what appear to be infrared anti-theft beams, with utterly no explanation of how such things can exist in pre-technological times, it's one of the highlights of the film. And yes, the airships are reasonably cool. Anderson certainly thinks so, anyway, as the entire movie is a set-up to get people in them, at which point he cribs blatantly from The Wrath of Khan. Other barely disguised steals include the rooftop swordfight from The Crow, and a significant line of dialogue from The Princess Bride. We know Anderson doesn't much care for coming up with his own material, as with few exceptions, his filmography consists of video-game adaptations and remakes. But couldn't he have appropriated something more akin to the milieu...Barry Lyndon, perhaps? To his dubious credit, he has picked out a theme song that's just a bad as the Rod Stewart/Bryan Adams/Sting number "All For Love" from the 1993 Disney version of this same tale. What tale, you ask? The premise is familiar: young swordsman D'Artagnan (Logan Lerman) wants to join the famous Three Musketeers (Matthew Macfadyen, Luke Evans, and Ray Stevenson), and like them, winds up falling afoul of Cardinal Richelieu (Christoph Waltz), who is secretly plotting against the king of France with the aid of England's evil Duke of Buckingham (Orlando Bloom). Using both sides against each other is the aptly named "Milady," played, naturally, by Anderson's #1 lady Jovovich. And that's it, really. The characters just sort of hang around the general palace area until it's airship battle time. Plus, like the Resident Evil sequels, this movie doesn't end with any closure—it just delivers a hook for an unlikely-to-be-made sequel that promises more than it can deliver. Anderson's fond of using 3-D to show off explosions of splintering wood and dust, but aside from that there's little to recommend the process; barely even much sword-pointing into the audience, which ought to be a no-brainer. The 180—a Second Opinion: The actors are all perfectly fine, but it would be nice if somebody had thought to give them something to do. Other than Milla, who swings sexy stunts as always.

Hutchison's Teenage Wife Banned From Facebook

Actor Doug Hutchison's teenage bride has been banned from Facebook.com for allegedly posting "inappropriate sexual content". The Green Mile star, 51, became tabloid fodder in May when he wed Courtney Stodden and now she's hitting headlines all over again after users of the social networking site filed complaints about a number of the 17 year old's sexy online photos. The images of Stodden in a revealing bikini have since been pulled from the aspiring country singer's profile page and fan blogs - but the youngster's mother, Krista Keller, insists there was nothing inappropriate about the pictures and she's blaming jealous critics for causing an unnecessary stir. Keller tells Eonline.com, "It's the jealousy from the women towards her.

The men love her, the women hate her. The women report the photo because it's so easy to do. You just click a button. They think she's too sexy, they all report her together, and it's done. "There is nothing on her page you wouldn't find anywhere on Facebook! She has never done any nudity. Not a breast, not even a butt cheek. It's just her in a bathing suit!"

The Big Year, Movie Review

If you think you have seen a movie about every sport that has ever existed, think again. The Big Year is a movie about competitive bird watching and stars Owen Wilson as the champion — a man who has spotted more than 700 bird species in a single year — and Steve Martin and Jack Black as two of his challengers. The contest’s color analyst … er … narrator is John Cleese, who also provides a primer on the sport of “birding.” The movie, writes Roger Ebert in the Chicago Sun-Times, “has an innocence and charm that will make it appealing for families, especially those who have had enough whales and dolphins for the year.” A.O. Scott in the New York Times uses the adjectives “gentle and low-key” to describe the film, adjectives that are unlikely to turn up in ads appearing on the movie pages, where the preferred words for selling comedies include “outrageous” and “uproarious.” Likewise Ty Burr in the Boston Globe observes that the three leading characters in the movie are “good company. So, in its fubsy [dumpy] way, is the movie.” And Betsy Sharky writes that while the movie “might not soar … there is some harmless pleasure to be found when feathers aren’t ruffled, when the fowl is not foul.” Rex Reed in the New York observer was neither charmed by the movie — nor by its stars. “Steve Martin has isolated moments trying in vain to choke some humor out of a film that is only slightly less amusing than a case of bird fever,” he writes, “but he’s got his work cut out for him sharing the screen with Jack Black and Owen Wilson, two of the screen’s most annoying unsolved mysteries.” And Michael Phillips in the Chicago Tribune concludes that this “gentle, diffident concoction … has barely enough pulse to power a hummingbird.” »

Ash at Tussauds from October 19

Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's Madame Tussauds statue will be unveiled in Blackpool, UK, on October 19. The look is inspired from Ash's red carpet appearance at the Cannes premiere of Robin Hood in 2010, for which she wore an Elie Saab gown.
