Floral Displays in the Abbey and Buckingham Palace

The Couple have taken a close interest in the designs, which follows a theme that pays tribute to the Language of Flowers

Prince William and Miss Middleton have chosen London-based floral designer Shane Connolly to create the floral displays for their wedding on April 29th. Mr. Connolly has directed a team of florists, including Westminster Abbey's and Buckingham Palace's florists, and florists individually chosen by the Couple, to create the floral displays at the Abbey and for Buckingham Palace.

Mr. Connolly was chosen by the Couple owing to his reputation for producing elegant and unique displays, and for his creative approach which focuses on using seasonal, natural and organic flowers. Mr. Connolly is also well known for his sustainable approach to floristry, which incorporates as much as possible the use of growing, rather than cut, plants and trees.

The Couple have taken a close interest in the designs, which follows a theme that pays tribute to the Language of Flowers.

The floral displays in Westminster Abbey feature a variety of seasonal growing and cut British flowers and trees sourced from Royal Estates and other growers around the country. The flowers and plants include blossoms, azaleas, rhododendron, euphorbias, beech, wisteria and lilac.

The floral displays in the Abbey will include eight 20 feet-high trees: six English Field Maple and two Hornbeam. All the trees will be growing in planters, which have also been designed by Mr. Connolly and which were made by craftsmen at Highgrove, The Prince of Wales's Residence in Gloucestershire.

After the wedding, the flowers and plants will be left in position in Westminster Abbey for the public to view until Friday 6th May 2011. Following this, many of the trees will be taken to Highgrove Gardens, where they will be planted. The Couple's intention is that many of the cut plants and flowers and all the growing plants will be donated to charities or re-planted.

Shane Connolly was born and raised in Northern Ireland. He has a lifelong passion for gardening and plants. After reading Psychology at university, he had a complete career change and trained under London's leading floral designers. He set up his business in 1989. Mr. Connolly has worked on a number of events for The Prince of Wales's Household. He was asked by The Duchess of Cornwall to design her bouquet and all the flowers for her marriage to The Prince of Wales in 2005. Arnold Schwarzenegger is back for more Terminator

Arnie wasn’t kidding when he said he’d be back; the Austrian Oak has just signed on to make another Terminator movie.

With his tenure as ‘Governator’ of California over, speculation has been rife over which project Arnie would choose to head back to the movies with.

Now, Deadline confirms that the 63-year-old is sticking with what he knows by returning to the franchise that first made him a household name.

Having signed on to resurrect his Terminator character, Schwarzenegger is now shopping the project around Tinseltown with director Justin Lin in search of studio backing.

Lin’s Fast Five opens this Friday and is expected to be a massive success. If that prophecy is fulfilled, you can bet a studio will jump at a new Terminator film within minutes.

As yet there’s no word on how Arnie and co intend on continuing the franchise, though presumably they’ll be dumping Terminator Salvation director McG’s plans for a trilogy.

Bond 23 Movie (2012)

Bond 23 movie will bring fans closer to have an excitement and thriller packed movie experience as one of the most popular fictional characters of an secret agent goes on another mission. Based on character and stories created by writer Ian Fleming this long running movie franchise can be mentioned as one of the most successful theatrical adaptations and upcoming addition to that series is going to be eagerly anticipated by audiences. When looking at his previous works it is safe to assume that he will be coming up with something extraordinary to entertainment of onlookers. He will also make sure to bring together a fascinating cast on board and with their collaboration this talented director will be offering audiences something enjoyable and exciting. All and all a not to be missed feature this is going to be in many ways taking onlookers by surprise.

What makes Bond 23 movie a not to be missed kind of a flick for viewers is that this will also have a story where action thriller and adventure elements will be brought out at their best. Though plot details are yet to be revealed it has been said that this will have the storyline going forward from where it had ended in last episode. So it can be assumed that matters will be assumed from Quantum of Solace which had been the last movie released in the series. So fans are encouraged to make it to theaters to fins out more about this motion picture.

Bond 23 movie already has 9th of November in 2012 set as the release date and it can be said that unless it hit it off with production soon the release date might have to pushed forward. However the project had been experiencing some problems from the start because the studio had been going through a rough time financially. However it has been rumored that things are now under control and development of project is underway. All and all the story of talented super spy is going to offer audiences the chance to find themselves looking at a one of a kind flick.

Tom Cruise signs on to star in political thriller

Tom Cruise is set to get all political on us in a new, as-yet-untitled film from Dan Fogelman, the writer of Disney’s Tangled.

Cruise has signed on to star as a hitherto squeaky clean politician who is caught having an affair, and returns to his hometown a broken man.

There, according to Deadline, he attempts to “lick his wounds, repair his relationships and confront his past”.

Even though the movie’s landed a big star like Cruise, a deal’s in place that means Cruise gets $2m off the bat, and a further $3m if (yeah, if) the movie gets made.

That "if" seems a moot point given Fogelman’s 'hot property' status at the moment. The writer also sold his Crazy, Stupid, Love script for $2.5m (it’s out this year starring Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone), while he’s got a story credit on Cars 2.

Next in the pipeline for Cruise is Rock Of Ages, the adaptation of the Broadway musical that’ll test out his actual pipes, while Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol opens 26 December.

Jason Statham set to star in noir thriller Parker

Jason Statham is set to take the title role in Parker, a noir thriller from Taylor Hackford.

The film will be adapted from Donald Westlake's series of novels, which has previously inspired films like Point Blank (and remake Payback) and The Outfit.

Parker is a career criminal who's not averse to killing when the need arises, but he does live by his own moral code which includes a Robin Hood-esque rule of only robbing from those who can afford it (he doesn't give to the poor though).

The character (never given a first name) featured in 24 of Westlake's novels, so this is another Statham vehicle that has franchise potential.

Some of the action man's recent action output has been a bit 'meh' (The Mechanic didn't set anyone's world on fire), so it'll be interesting to see what he does under the watch of a director like Hackford.

On this change of pace, Hackford says: "I don't want to get stuck in a genre. What I like the most about this piece of material is that you can take a genre piece like this and turn it into a great movie."

Hackford directed Jamie Foxx to an Oscar in Ray; will he tap into hitherto undiscovered depths in The Stath?

It'll certainly be an experience to see how Statham works with a more character-focused helmer, and at least we know he's got the unique gravelly tones for the noir voiceover.

Elizabeth Banks playing Hunger Games with Jennifer Lawrence

Gary Ross' adaptation of Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games has added another key cast member in the form of Elizabeth Banks.

She'll play Effie Trinket, and she'll be escorting Katniss and Peeta (already-cast Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson) to the central city, Capitol, where the titular life-or-death games take place.

Banks is always a charming presence on screen, and it looks like she'll get to show off her ditzy naivety here as a 'flighty bureaucrat'.

Lionsgate has high hopes for the project, which has franchise-potential (the novel is the first in the trilogy) and is often optimistically dubbed 'the new Twilight'.

Banks joins Lawrence, Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth in the flick, and Entertainment Weekly are reporting that relative unknowns Dayo Okeinyi and Amadla Stenberg have bagged the roles of Thresh and Rue.

The Hunger Games was the first movie Lawrence signed up for post-Oscar nomination, which is enough of a reason to be quietly confident about it, but it's a shame that the Twilight comparisons continue to be dredged up.

New Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 images

It's a matter of months until the Harry Potter franchise, the highest-grossing series in cinema history, concludes with Deathly Hallows Part 2.

While we're still waiting for a new trailer, a selection of new images have hit the interweb, which should be enough to keep the die-hard fans sated for a little longer.

Slashfilm compiled the images, which landed on EW and Coming Soon. They feature appetite-whetting glimpses of Draco Malfoy, Neville Longbottom, Bellatrix Lestrange and Voldemort, as well as central trio Harry, Hermione and Ron.

Brad Bird talks Mission Impossible 4 and 1906

Brad Bird has spoken to Entertainment Weekly about making the change from animation to live action for Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.

In an interview to promote the Blu-ray release of The Incredibles (Region 1, sadly), Bird did answer a couple of questions about M:I 4, as well as his long-mooted San Francisco earthquake project, 1906.

When asked about the Ghost Protocol shoot, Bird offered: "It was a very challenging shoot. It’s a big film and we had to move around a lot. We were doing a lot of physical effects live — we weren’t using special effects. And so it was physically a real challenge.'

When it comes to the differences between animation and live-action, he said: "The wonderful thing about animation is you have absolute control over every frame. The nightmare of animation is that you have absolute control over every frame.

"Literally, you have to decide upon everything, and you don’t get anything for free. You can’t go to a location and simply say, “This looks good,” and shoot there.

"You have to discuss what kind of trees, is it a railyard, how wide are the tracks, are the tracks new or old? The amount of planning you have to do is just jaw-dropping."

"But there are pleasures to be had in both mediums. With live-action, you’re trying to catch little moments of lightning in a bottle. In animation you’re trying to do that too, but you’re doing it one volt at a time."

Bird also confirmed the Cruiser's crazy commitment to the skyscraper stunt ("He did dangle! That’s not a special effect."), and went on to say a little about real-life earthquake story 1906.

When asked if that would be his next project, he said: "I don’t know. It’s all about getting the story to work, and the canvas is so big on it that it’s easy to bust down its movie-sized walls and go rampaging throughout the countryside.

"The problem has always been scaling it and containing it in a movie-sized length. It’s really a movie that wants to be a miniseries. But if you did it as a miniseries, then you’d have to do it for the small screen, and the story demands to be told on a big screen.

"So we’re still working on it."

It's extremely appetite-whetting to hear that Bird has been keeping the action in M:I 4 very physical and real. Having made some of the finest animated movies of recent years (The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Ratatouille), we can't wait to see what he can do with an action movie.

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, starring Cruise, Paula Patton and Jeremy Renner, is set to open on 16 December 2011, so hopefully we'll clap eyes on a trailer soon.

Sneak Peek: Who's calling Kareena at 4 am?

Kareena Kapoor remained glued to her cell phone when not shooting for Reema Kagti's untitled film along with Aamir Khan. Bebo can't do without her mobile and she is constantly either messaging or calling people.

This picture was taken over the weekend during the shoot at Lower Parel at 4 am. Wonder who she was messaging at that unearthly hour? Exchanging lovey-dovey messages with beau Saif Ali Khan, perhaps?

PSST... Cell phones have been banned on the sets of Kagti's film as the big names associated with the project (especially Aamir!) don't want any pictures of the shoot and look to be leaked out. Guess the stars are exception to the rule!

Bow to the wow. Men, we are told, are dogs. They cheat on their wives. And have themselves the time of their lives. And the wives, poor creatures, are so devoted to their spouses they observe the Karva Chauth for their pati-devils even when they have no reason to do so. Such devotion in show motion.

Thank You is a kind of backhanded ode to the classic Indian wife we grew up watching in the films where the resplendent Nutan would sing Tumhi mere mandir tumhi mere pooja to her smug husband. Serene was the key them. Over-zealous is the mainstay now.

Times have changed. But mores and marital values have only shifted location. Inexplicably Thank You is shot in Canada . Caucasian girls steeped in a slutty splendour, fill up the fringes of the saturated frames. Blonde salad-dressing apart, the message at the heart of Thank You remains as desi as the Punjabi accent that Akshay Kumar doesn’t even try to conceal.

Since this is a film about the perils of skirt-chasing there are plenty of women of all shapes and sizes in skirts (including Sonam Kapoor whose dress code defies all analysis) and other designer clothes.

For that talented writer Anees Bazmi the theme of infidelity in Thank You is familiar territory. In the past he has done jokey takes on men who can’t keep their libido down with varying degrees of humour.

A certain higher level of intelligence is perceptible in the way the characters are put out for scrutiny in the light of their unfaithful characters.

Irrfan Khan as the sarcastic bully of a husband scores the highest marks in the acting department. His wry caustic responses to semi-petrified wife Rimi Sen make a mocking mark mainly for the way the lines are written and delivered. Irrfan is priceless in projecting parody. Rimi Sen, an underrated actress provides Irrfan valuable support .

Akshay Kumar plays the pied piper of the libido. He tries to teach the three womanizers how to check their carnal instincts. That is the best joke in the film.

Such selfrighteous cool roles of the social reformer are not new to Akshay. He delivers a rousing monologue at the end on the virtues of fidelity.

While his comic timing remains sharp and spot-on it is the way he tries to create an aura of suspense about his character’s motives as a man on a mission, that provides a cutting edge to the tale of three skirt-chasers.

Remarkably the dialogues remain free of innuendos. Surprising, considering how lurid films about infidelity have gotten in the past. The proceedings adhere to a sense of fun without getting cheesy. Suneil Shetty’s body language and comic timing in some sequences show his coming of age as an actor of mirthful value.

Thank You has moments that come close to illuminating the underbelly of infidelity. But fearful of forsaking the mood of a riotous farce writer-director Anees Bazmi pulls out of any serious statement to lounge languidly in his comfort zone.

As far as masala comedies go Thank You gets by on the strength of some smart writing, sassy dialogues and of course a handful of performers who try to balance out the lackluster performances of other actors who, lethally for a comedy, just don’t get it.

Shah Rukh vs Salman at Filmistan once again

Like petulant kids who still hold grudges, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan completely avoid each other despite shooting not more than a few hundred meters apart

There was a palpable tension in the air yesterday evening at Filmistan Studios in Goregaon. Friends-turned-foes Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan were there shooting for their respective projects.

Nothing happened. The units on both sets expected a confrontation that never took place. The warring actors kept to their vans.

Says a source, "Salman has been shooting for Atul and Alvira Agnihotri's Bodyguard for the last few days in Filmistan on the the third floor. SRK began shooting on the first floor.

Sallu was shooting a crucial scene and so SRK's entry had everyone on the Bodyguard sets on tenterhooks."

It's a known fact that the two actors haven't made their peace since a feud that began at Katrina Kaif's birthday party three years ago.

Adds the source, "It was all fun for the Bodyguard unit and the shoot was moving along smoothly. SRK's visit made them go into a tense huddle though shooting continued as normally as before. No-one knew how Salman would react to his dushman being in the vicinity."

While it is known that Sallu's sisters-in-law, Seema and Malaika are still friends with SRK, it is lesser known that Atul and Alvira are very close to King Khan too.

"Atul and SRK's friendship goes way back. It was expected that Shah Rukh would drop in to meet Atul on the sets, " notes the source.

That didn't happen. "SRK would leave his van and just go to the studio and shoot as would Salman, who is otherwise known to sit outside his van chatting with his friends and people who drop in to meet him.

The Bodyguard unit finally heaved a sigh of relief after Shah Rukh left around midnight."

I'm not angry with Ash: Dutt

The actor livid on rumour mongers who are out to create rift between the Bachchans and him, says he can wait till the actress decides on dates

Sanjay Dutt is an actor who doesn't talk much but when he does, he roars! Dutt is apparently perturbed with people, who are trying to create a rift between the Bachchans and him. And he is making no effort to hide his displeasure about that.

A source close to Dutt said, "Sanju is very upset with people spreading rumours about him being upset with Aishwarya.

Sanjay Dutt claims that some people are trying to create problems between the Bachchans and him when everything is fine between them

There have been talks in the industry that Sanju is angry with Aishwarya because she has kept his home production Satta Pe Satta (directed by Soham Shah) on hold as the actress is dithering about her dates.

"Sanju feels that some people with vested interests are trying to create misunderstanding between the Bachchans and him.

Aishwarya has been the only actress approached till now for Satte Pe Satta and Sanju is prepared to wait till she decides on dates. In the meantime Sanjay Dutt Productions (SDP) will go ahead with its other projects."

A visibly agitated Dutt said, "The rumours about me being upset with Aishwarya are rubbish! I am upset with people who are spreading such rumours instead. The Bachchans are like my family. I can never be upset with them.

"We all know that filmmaking is a time-taking process. Everything takes time and happens in its due course.

Ash has told me that she needs some time and we at SDP are prepared to wait till eternity for her. It will be a pleasure working with Ash, if she agrees to do Satte Pe Satta."

The source adds that Dutt has always been very close to the Bachchan family. "In fact Sanjay and his wife Manaayata were one of the few actors invited to Abhishek and Aishwarya's wedding."

The last time Dutt and Aishwarya had worked together was in David Dhawan's Hum Kissi Se Kum Nahi along with Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgn.

Dutt's Satte Pe Satta is said to be a remake of Raj N Sippy's Satte Pe Satta (1982) and is the story of seven brothers living on a large farmhouse.

Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini were the main leads in the original film. In the remake, Dutt will play Bachchan's part while Aishwarya is supposed to essay Hema's role.

Tom Cruise in talks to star in sci-fi Oblivion

Tom Cruise is in early talks to star in Joseph Kosinski's next science-fiction film, Oblivion.

It's looking like Universal will be the studio to finance and distribute the hot property, though apparently that's dependent on Kosinski keeping the budget around $100 million.

Oblivion is based on a graphic novel (which in turn was based on an idea by Kosinski), and it got a great deal of interest from studios after Disney let the TRON: Legacy director shop it around.

The post-apocalyptic story sees Earth pretty much uninhabitable, with the majority of the population living in the clouds.

Cruise would play a soldier who services anti-alien droids on Earth, though the film is primarily a love story as it focuses on his relationship with a woman who crash-lands on the near-empty planet.

Promisingly, the script comes from The Departed Oscar-winner William Monahan, and it's currently getting a polish by Karl Gajdusek.

Next up for Cruise (who has wrapped on Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol) is musical Rock of Ages, then he's got a void in his schedule created by the collapse of Guillermo del Toro's At the Mountains of Madness.

Tom Hanks confirmed for Cloud Atlas

His name was linked to a potential casting wish-list some time ago, and it has now been confirmed that Tom Hanks will star in Cloud Atlas.

The film will be based on the award-winning novel by David Mitchell (not of Mitchell and Webb infamy), with an ambitious plot featuring six interconnected stories that take place over hundreds of years, beginning in the nineteenth century.

There's currently no confirmation as to who Hanks will be playing, but Adam Ewing seems the most likely contender.

Unusually, the film will be co-directed (and co-written) by Tom Twyker (Run Lola Run, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer) and the Matrix-creating Wachowski siblings.

Perhaps three directing heads were considered essential for such an epic tale, but let's hope it's not a case of too many cooks and the inevitable spoilt broth.

Cloud Atlas is set to begin shooting in September, so expect more casting announcements soon.

Sleeping Beauty update gets an atmospheric trailer

The first trailer for Julia Leigh's Sleeping Beauty has arrived, and it looks considerably darker than the other fairytale-inspired movies heading our way.

Offering more in the way of evocative imagery and ominous mood-setting than cold hard plot details, the modern update of the story stars Emily Browning (Sucker Punch) as university student Lucy.

It appears she's sucked into a high-class prostitution ring, where she's drugged into sedation for her clients in a quite radical deviation from the original story.

The official synopsis describes the Australian movie as follows:

"A haunting erotic fairy tale about Lucy, a student who drifts into prostitution and finds her niche as a woman who sleeps, drugged, in a ‘Sleeping Beauty chamber’ while men do to her what she can‘t remember the next morning."

The script was previously on the Black List of the best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood, and Alice in Wonderland star Mia Wasikowska was once attached to the lead role before she dropped out for Jane Eyre.

Sleeping Beauty also comes packing an impressive endorsement from filmmaker Jane Campion. Sample the trailer for yourself now:

What's it about: Does Anees Bazmee need to make a No Entry 2 when he's put together what looks like an exact sequel to the 2005 release? Nothing changes, except the faces of the lead actors and the scenic locales of Canada.

The story revolves around three friends -- Sunil, Irrfan and Bobby who have a roving eye for everyone but their wives -- Celina, Rimi and Sonam. When they star falling short of excuses and their cover-ups are exposed, a pied piper (Akshay) playing a melody on his flute steps in. Why's he playing that tune, we don't know. But Bazmee finds some way to make the harmony a focal point in his climax. Confused? Don't be, because this comic caper really doesn't have any place for logic and reason. It's a no-brainer that works on the merit of its one-liners and some genuine funny situations.

What's hot: Thank You has some solid hilarious moments that work because of the right comic timing and some good writing. It's the classic premise of a cheating husband trying to fool his wife to avoid getting caught. Using it as a backbone to create some guffaws comes easy to Bazmee. The first half has a slow start, but once the ball starts rolling, it never stops. Irrfan has the best scenes and lines which he eats up with delight.

His timing is perfect as he uses his serious straight jacket face to pull off some really amusing scenes. Sunil is a pleasant surprise where he goes all out to make a fool out of himself in a no-holds-barred performance. He puts in more effort than just playing a regular hen pecked husband. Among the girls -- Sonam looks like she has a flavour for comedy which can be developed. Her pairing with Bobby is a bit off but works because it's so unconventional. Celina disappears in the second half, only to turn up in the climax. But it's Rimi who steals the show as she plays the 'sati-savitri' wife who has a wicked twist in the second half. Akshay looks his best in a long time and seems like he's having fun. There's a natural charm to his performance which doesn't seem rehearsed. The Razia and Pyaar Do songs are well choreographed providing the gasoline to fuel the masses.

What's not: Something Akshay needs to do is stop slapping -- be it a monkey (Housefull) or a woman. It just doesn't seem right when he whacks an extra dancing in the song on her face. We didn't get the joke! The second half needs serious trimming. The songs just keep popping out of nowhere. Once the humour starts waning out, we are presented with a romantic track that really doesn't do much for the story. Akshay's undercurrent of feelings for Sonam really doesn't hold any ground. Neither does his long drawn flashback explaining why he's become the messiah of the married folk sorting out their lives. Why does Bazmee need to hold an assembly of his actors in the climax? Right from the driver to the lead actors everyone is jostling for space as the story comes to a conclusion. He needs to break out of this hackneyed approach of winding up his films. Bringing a mafia don with an extremely screechy wife (Rakhi Vijan) was unnecessary and didn't do anything to make the story any funnier.

What to do: If you liked No Entry, Thank You won't disappoint. Go have a hearty laugh.

Meg Ryan Heads Into The Beautiful

Meg Ryan’s acting career hasn’t exactly been firing on all thrusters recently, so it’s understandable that she might want to take a crack at some other creative outlet. Like many actors before her, she’s decided that she really wants to direct, and will make her debut with Into The Beautiful.

Not much is known about Cavedweller writer Anne Meredith’s latest script, except that it apparently focuses on a Big Chill-style reunion of old friends.

"I'm often drawn to pictures that make you laugh and cry," producer Wendy Finerman tells Variety. "I think this is the perfect project for Meg to bring to life. She's poignant and funny and heartfelt."

While Ryan will be behind the camera for the movie, there are apparently no plans for her to step in front of it – she and Finerman will start casting shortly, and the cameras will crank this September in New York state.

Ryan was last seen in comedy drama Serious Moonlight and is supposed to be starting work on Lives of the Saints with Kat Dennings, John Lithgow and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson this month.

Brand's super-rich leading man in the remake dons the Batsuit and takes the Batmobile for a spin, but the British funnyman soon got bored with the motor.

He tells WENN, "The actual car, inside, is not as interesting on the interior. It's like a reverse metaphor for the nature of the human soul; the inside was boring. It's a bit scruffy in there.

"I enjoyed wearing the suit because it had (one-time Batman star George) Clooney musk in it. It had the aroma, the pheromones of George Clooney and I'd like to think that I may have absorbed them. I'm certainly feeling a lot more altruistic. If anyone needs help with anything I'm prepared to help."

Courteney Cox and David Arquette put their marital problems behind them this week (beg04Apr11) to treat their daughter to a family holiday at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

The Hollywood couple separated in 2010, but they are attempting to work out their issues and have remained friendly for the sake of six-year-old Coco.

The stars proved they are making an effort to maintain family life by whisking the youngster off to the Disney attraction in Orlando, Florida on Tuesday.

Arquette told fans about the trip by posting a picture of the trio posing happily outside the theme park's famous Cinderella's Castle, along with the caption, "Disney World really is the most Magical Place on Earth".

He later added pictures of himself enjoying the rides with his family and trying on various wacky costumes.

Richard Curtis to adapt adventure novel Trash

Notting Hill and Love Actually scribe Richard Curtis has been hired to adapt Andy Mulligan’s adventure novel Trash into a movie script.

Having recently worked on War Horse, Curtis seems to be leaving his romcom comfort zone far behind at the moment, with Trash featuring kiddie protagonists from a Third World country. Not exactly Hugh Grant material, is it?

With the book’s rights snapped up by Working Title, Stephen Daldry (The Hours, The Reader, above) has been tapped to direct.

Set in the not-too-distant future, Trash follows three ‘dumpsite boys’ living in a Third World country who pick through rubbish on the outskirts of a city.

One day, one of the boys discovers a mysterious treasure that he decides to keep himself – despite offers from the police for it. His decision to keep the object tips him into a terrifying mystery.

It’s a definite change of pace for Curtis, though the poverty vibe and the human drama inherent in the story are very much Daldry’s thing.

Tarsem Singh discusses his version of Snow White

Immortals director Tarsem Singh has spoken about his approach to bringing fairytale Snow White to the big screen.

The filmmaker has been trying to get a version of Snow White into cinemas for a while now, and only this weekend found his leading lady in Lily Collins (The Blind Side).

With Armie Hammer also attached as the Prince, and Julia Roberts the evil Queen, it’s certainly shaping up to be an interesting project. Right down to the costumes, apparently.

“The stuff that I make people wear can not look ridiculous,” Singh says of the film’s wardrobe. “It looks ridiculous. I end up pushing it so much...

“It's amazing to get [Roberts'] trust. She just said, ‘No, I want to make a movie with you and in your style.’ So, for me, we threw everything out there and we'll just see how much is palatable.”

The visionary director went on to talk about the kind of look he’s going for with the rest of the movie, revealing that despite the amount of snow involved, it’ll be very colourful.

“If you look at Gaudi's architecture,” he says, “based in England, done like a turn-of-the-century Russian film and done by an Indian guy.

“It's kind of very monochromatic. Everything is in snow, but the costumes are very colourful, and so it's like, no colour and a lot of colour.”

Immortals opens 11 November.

Mark Wahlberg offered action comedy Bait And Switch

Universal are hoping Mark Wahlberg will agree to head up a spec script they’ve just purchased entitled Bait And Switch.

Scripted by little-known writer Matthew J. O’Neill, it’s being described as an action comedy, though no plot details have yet been unveiled.

Wahlberg seems to be a Universal favourite at the moment. He’s currently filming Ted with Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane, and also has thriller Contraband on the horizon.

After the success he had with The Other Guys, it’s no wonder Universal want to create a similar action vehicle for him to ride his popularity wave.

Of course, all of these projects could eventually get in the way of video game adap Drake’s Fortune, which Wahlberg’s attached to. But considering he’s shown more aptitude for comedy than action, would that be such a bad thing?

Harry Potter producer adapting Adventures Of Oscar Pill

With Harry Potter finally coming to a climax this year, producer David Heyman has begun looking for the next big thing.

According to him, that next big thing will be Oscar Pill, the star of a series of French youth novels that Warner Bros. have just acquired the feature film rights to.

Written by physician and author Eli Anderson, the series consists of five novels, and follows Oscar Pill, who discovers that he has the ability to enter the human body and explore the worlds there.

He embarks on a mission to fight the enemies of an order known as Medicus, and must travel through the five worlds of the human body, discovering trophies along the way that let him into the next world.

It’s a bizarre concept to say the least, but one that easily offers itself up to a series of film adaptations.

New Kung Fu Panda 2 TV spot emerges

Clocking in at 1:04, it divulges a lot more plot info, in which a shady adversary plans to wipe out kung fu for good, leaving it up to Po and his fellow animal warriors to save China's most sacred martial art.

Much like its mighty predecessor, the follow-up features Jack Black as the voice of Po the panda alongside an ensemble of vocal talent - including Jean-Claude Van Damme.

The clip ends with the stare-down finale seen in the previous trailer...but it still makes us chuckle.

Cox: 'Dating Rumours Just A Part Of Life'

Actress Courteney Cox is brushing off ongoing reports about her love life, insisting the dating rumours are just "a part of life".

Since separating from husband David Arquette in 2010, the Friends star has been romantically linked to her Cougar Town co-stars Brian Van Holt and Josh Hopkins - and she even vacationed with the latter in St. Barts last week (ends01Apr11).

But Cox insists her co-stars are just friend who have been offering her their support at a difficult time in her life.

She tells Harper's Bazaar, "He's (Brian Van Holt) a really good friend of mine, so I don't care. It just doesn't matter. He's a great guy, and he's definitely been a part of my support system.

'We (Brian Van Holt and I) were doing a scene out on a dock in Marina del Rey (California), and there were pictures of the two of us. As if that's where I'm going to go (to) have a private moment.

"How about the camera that was right there and all the cast members to the left that were completely cut out? But I'm used to it. It happened on Friends... That's just a part of life."

Ah, the department store where Kate bought that Issa dress. And she's still going back for more. I hear on March 25 Kate and Pippa were on the second floor, perusing the ladies fashions. (Also spotted? Kate with two cellphones - would love to know what that second line is for!).

3. The Ebury Brasserie, in the Pimlico neighborhood

This reasonably priced brasserie is where Kate's been known to sneak away by herself and enjoy a little reading and a bite to eat. It's not for the calorie conscious (Kate's favorite Ebury burger clocks in at a gigantic 805 calories!) but it is conveniently located around the corner from Buckingham Palace.

4. Harbour Club, in the Chelsea neighborhood

This isn't just any old gym. When we spotted Kate here with a girlfriend in February, the pair stayed on after their 90-minute cardio workout for massages and dinner at the club's gourmet restaurant. Both Kate and sister Pippa are members of the luxury health club (where the joining fee alone is around $3,500!).

5. The Kings Road, in the Sloane Square neighborhood

Sloanie paradise! Last month, Kate ended a busy day of meetings (for charity work and wedding planning) with trips to her favorite stores - LK Bennet , Reiss and L'Occitane.

6. Clarence House, The Mall

Okay, so technically this isn't a hangout. But Kate has spent almost 50% of the year at this former home of the Queen Mother. It's a (literal) stone's throw away from neighboring St. James' Palace, and also the official London residence of Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla, Prince William and Harry. The best part? It's open to the public during summers.

Liz Hurley Files for Divorce

Most celebrities site ‘irreconcilable differences’ when they
file for the big ‘D’ but not Liz Hurley.

Although she and Aussie cricket star Shane Warne have been
making headline’s lately with their on-again off-again antics, the Estee
Lauder spokesmodel blamed her split with
husband of four years, Arun Nayar, on his “unreasonable behavior.”

We almost forgot the British beauty was even married after
snapping her and Warne together so much during a recent trip down under.

So does this mean they’ll be walking down the aisle anytime soon?

Not according to Hurley.

The 45-year-old model turned actress, who has been in Los
Angeles lately filming a role for the upcoming TV Wonder Woman reboot, put an end to any wedding rumors on Twitter
saying:

“Apparently I’m getting married & moving to Australia. Wow, my fictional tabloid life is
exciting! Breathlessly awaiting next installment…”
