Angelina Jolie's Directorial Debut Hits the Web, Trailer

We know she can act, but how good is Angelina Jolie behind the camera?

We're about to find out. The trailer for In the Land of Blood and Honey, a Bosnian War drama that marks the Oscar-winning actress' first stint above the title as writer and director, premiered online today. Jolie doesn't appear in Blood and Honey the film, which is the love story of a Serbian man and a Bosnian-Muslim woman during the mid-'90s conflict.But it's clearly also a passion project for the thesp, given her humanitarian work on behalf of war refugees and victims of atrocities. Alas, given the sensitive nature of the tale—which early reports incorrectly described as being about a rape victim who falls for her attacker, sparking outrage—Bosnian officials initially denied Jolie a permit to shoot in the country. However, they later reversed course after the Mighty Heart star asked local women's groups not to judge the movie before they see it. In the Land of Blood and Honey is set to unspool on Dec. 23, just in time to qualify for the Oscars. What do you think, does Angie have a shot at an Academy Award? Angelina Jolie's Salt to Get a Sequel

Angelina Jolie is in talks to reprise her role as Evelyn Salt, an undercover CIA agent who was revealed to be a Russian spy in the 2010 action thriller Salt.
Sony Pictures has asked Kurt Wimmer to write a follow-up to the $300 million-grossing film. In August, the 36-year-old mom of six told Us Weekly she was game for a sequel.
Associate producer Amy Lynn praised Jolie's performance, telling Us that the Oscar winner is "stunning" and "captivating" to watch. "She just steals the camera," Lynn said. "You are hypnotized. You can't take your eyes of

Angelina Jolie discusses her take on Cleopatra

Angelina Jolie has spoken out about her approach to playing Cleopatra in a big screen version of the Egyptian queen’s life.

Cleopatra has often been considered a legendary beauty – not least thanks to Elizabeth Taylor’s glamorous turn as the young queen in the Oscar-winning 1963 film.

But Jolie wants to approach the monarch from a different angle.

“She has been very misunderstood,” Jolie tells Stella Magazine. “I thought it was all about the glamour, but then I read about her and she was a very strong mother, she spoke five languages and she was a leader.

“My performance will never be as lovely as Elizabeth's. We are trying to get into a different truth about her as a pharaoh in history and not a sex symbol, because she really wasn't.

“Even this idea of her having many lovers - it was possible that it was only two. She is very interesting, but she wasn't a great beauty.”

The film will be based on the novel Queen Of the Nile: Cleopatra, A Life, and is due out in 2013. There is currently no director attached, though Jolie is keen on David Fincher.

Those who've seen Jolie in the flesh can attest that she herself is a "great beauty", so it'll be interesting to see how she plays that down as Cleopatra. Uglification, anyone?

Angelina Out Of Iconic Role?

Lara Croft is dusting off her boots, but they won't be worn by the original adventurer.

EW reports that Graham King, best known for producing "The Departed" and "The Town," has purchased, through his production company, Gk Films, the film rights to the video game series "Tomb Raider" and its iconic gun-toting leading lady, Lara Croft.

Those rights were once held by Paramount, who made two smash hit movies based on the game, carried by a young and kick-ass Angelina Jolie. She starred in 2001's "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" and 2003's "Lara Craft: Tomb Raider — The Cradle of Life." The films, which helped boost Jolie's rising star, made $274,703,340 and $156,505,388 worldwide, respectively, though the second film was a disappointment in domestic theaters.

Angelina Jolie is on the cover of Vogue Magazine December 2010 and featured in photos by Mario Testino as well as a cover story interview. The issue will hit newsstands on Nov. 23. See the photo shoot of the Academy Award winning actress and philanthropist plus excerpts from the interview below after the jump.
In the interview, she discussed a range of topics including her partner, Brad Pitt, their children, and her role in the forthcoming movie The Tourist in which she costars with Johnny Depp.

Regarding her philanthropic efforts: “My children are from the countries that I work in. I don’t see my family as a global family. I don’t see it separate. So when I look at my kids, and I wake up and hear something’s happening in Pakistan, I think: It’s Asians, and my children are from that part of the world. Those kids are very much like my kids. So I’m happy to be able to go.”

Regarding Brad Pitt: “”I think he’s an extremely sexy — extremely handsome and the most sexy … When I think about him, I just think of the man who’s such a great friend and such an extraordinary father. And that’s when I fall, you know, when I have my moments of getting caught up in how much I love him … it’s usually when I see him with the children.”

Regarding her wardrobe: “As Brad’ll tell you—and my kids—apparently Mommy only wears black. I like to get up so every pair of pants goes with every top, every dress goes with every shoe. I’ve a very tiny closet. Brad’s always laughing at me. Some days, yes, I have the nightgown that looks like a dress that I can sleep in and pick the kids up at school. And maybe take a meeting if I switch into heels.”
