Cruise has signed on to star as a hitherto squeaky clean politician who is caught having an affair, and returns to his hometown a broken man. There, according to Deadline, he attempts to “lick his wounds, repair his relationships and confront his past”. Jason Statham is set to take the title role in Parker, a noir thriller from Taylor Hackford. The film will be adapted from Donald Westlake's series of novels, which has previously inspired films like Point Blank (and remake Payback) and The Outfit.
