Ekta Kapoor and Sanjay Gupta's sequel of Shootout at Lokhandwala will be based on Mumbai's first case of encounter killing

Shootout at Lokhandwala's sequel dilemma has finally been resolved. In a dramatic turn of events, not only has Ekta Kapoor persuaded director Sanjay Gupta to drop his plans of adapting a Hong Kong action-thriller, she has also found a new plotline.

Shootout 2 will now recreate the first-ever recorded case of encounter killing in Mumbai (1982), exactly ten years before the time frame set in Shootout at Lokhandwala.

The case refers to the broad daylight gunning-down of Manya Surve on January 11, 1982. Surve, an infamous gangster, was gunned down by a number of policemen in front of a beauty parlour where he had gone to pick up his lover (a widow with two children).

The plot was dug out after Kapoor instructed a research team of four members to find a true-life story on which to base the sequel. The team sifted through numerous reports of encounter killings before finding Surve's case. Apparently, the case immediately grabbed Kapoor's attention.

When contacted Gupta confirmed the news. He says, "You know how persuasive Ekta is. We're no longer adapting the Hong Kong film. Ekta's research team has come up with this absolutely devastating incident that occurred in Mumbai in 1982. The best thing about the plot is that at its heart, it is an amazing love story. We can't wait to start shooting."

Ekta, Tusshar get into war of words

The siblings had a spat on Karan Johar's show after Ekta expressed displeasure at her brother's growing fondness for his co-star Radhika

Ekta and Tusshar Kapoor had a spat on Karan Johar's chat show Koffee With Karan over Tusshar's present lady love Radhika Apte.

The fiery sibling banter, which made Karan extremely curious about the girl in question, will be aired tomorrow

A source close to the family said, "Tension has been brewing in the Kapoor household ever since Tusshar came out about his 'close friendship' with his Shor In The City co-star.

However, Ekta couldn't keep her simmering emotions under check and it all came to light on Karan's couch."

The source added that the usually quiet Tusshar matched his sister's candidness and was seen giving it back to her, word for word.

How it started

"Tusshar was talking about his next release, including the chemistry he shares with Radhika.

Those who've seen the footage between Tusshar and Radhika in the Saibo track have been talking about by their chemistry, especially in a scene where he is unbuttoning her blouse," the source said.

However, it was in the rapid fire round that Ekta could not hide her displeasure at Tusshar's growing fondness for his co-star.

According to the source, when Tusshar was asked to rate his top five sexy actresses, he named Kareena, Priyanka and Katrina and then broke off to think.

"Ekta then named Radhika Apte to which Karan asked, 'Who is this Radhika' to which Ekta promptly replied, 'Exactly! Who is she?' That wasn't all. Ekta even spoke about her brother's bad taste in women to make it evident that she doesn't approve of his present lady love," added the source.

It's enough

"Ekta called Radhika 'horsey' beautiful. Tusshar, who had by then decided he had enough, rebuked her not to be rude. He was in no mood to take things lying down and said he didn't care for Ekta's approval," he added.

The banter on display was so fiery that it made Karan curious about the girl in question. He said he was looking forward to seeing the on screen chemistry between the two actors in the film. Ekta shot right back, 'I hope the chemistry stays on the screen only!'

The source said, "It was Ekta who finally decided to end the fight when she told Tusshar 'Let's not fight any more or you will beat me up again!' When they were younger, Tusshar would often beat up Ekta even as recent as 10 years ago. This too was narrated by Ekta on the show."
